Rockhouse Rocks Spring Break With “Sprink Broke 2010″ – Spring Break Student Specials March Through May At Rockhouse

RockhouseIn the midst of an economic recession, Rockhouse Bar and Nightclub has the solution to the Spring Break epidemic that is sweeping the nation. College students across the country have been forced to adjust, or in the worst case scenario, abandon their Spring Break party plans. Rockhouse’s “Spring Broke 2010″ will pickup right where it left off last year, with a memorable Spring season full wild parties and drunken all-nighters for those party-hard Spring Breakers that are still “Spring Broke.”

“Spring Broke 2010″ will be ongoing at Rockhouse from March 1 until Memorial Day weekend as an invitation for all co-eds to let loose and get wild – on a recession budget. Students that show their college ID all season long will receive great deals that will please party-craving collegiates and their wallets (or lack-thereof).

* Broke Student Specials: For those ballers on a budget, Rockhouse will offer $100 bottles Monday through Thursday with a valid student ID, based on availability. Additional weekday specials include two-for-$5 canned beers and $5 Cuervo margaritas and Jager bombs.
* VIP Dean’s List: We don’t discriminate against teachers’ pets, but at Rockhouse everyone makes the Dean’s List. Show a valid student ID any day of the week before 10 p.m. to make the grade with complimentary cover.
* Schoolgirl’s Night Out: On Thursday nights, sexy schoolgirls will receive complimentary admission and free drinks from 10:30 p.m. until midnight.
* Weekend Beer Pong Competitions: Because Rockhouse knows co-eds like to party, the ultra dive bar will host college beer pong competitions every Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. Students will also enjoy two-for-one well drinks and domestic bottled beer, and $5 shots before 6 p.m.

Blending a local dive bar with the glamour of Sin City’s party scene at a convenient center Strip location, Rockhouse is the top party destination on the Strip. Las Vegas’ only ultra dive bar features top-notch lighting and sound with the best DJs in Las Vegas blending upbeat rock, hip-hop and dance. With beautiful bartenders pouring drinks from the bar tops, playing in the giant bird cage and dangling from tire swings suspended from the ceiling, Rockhouse is the spot where the party never stops. Rockhouse Bar & Nightclub is located on Las Vegas Blvd., in front of Imperial Palace, across from Caesars Palace, in the middle of the Las Vegas Strip, between Spring Mountain and Flamingo. The daiquiri and main bar open daily at 10 a.m. and the adjacent nightclub is open from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly. For more information visit www.therockhousebar.com, and for bottle and table reservations call 702.731.9683 or email info@therockhousebar.com.

World Vibration Series Rumbles With African Beats – Bountalo Performs Traditional Rhythms Feb. 6

Master musician and Senegalese singer Toumany Kouyate returns to the World Vibration Concert Series with Bountalo, an African music ensemble, at 2 p.m. Feb. 6 at the Winchester Cultural Center Theater, 3130 S. McLeod Drive. Kouyate was last seen on the Winchester stage during the series’ fourth anniversary concert in July. During this performance, he leads Bountalo, which translates to “black scorpion.” Tickets for the concert are $10 for adults, $7 for seniors and children ages 12 and younger.

Kouyate is joined by percussionists Adama Diop and Ousmane Gueye, keyboardist Nico Gutierrez and dancer Ndeye Ndaiye. Listeners are typically fascinated by the unusual quality of Kouyate’s voice. The musicians in Bountalo live in Southern California and Las Vegas. Kouyate moved to Las Vegas in 1998 as a performer in Cirque du Soleil’s “O,” and he continues as a cast member today. He also appears on the company’s soundtrack for the Cirque du Soleil film “Journey of Man.” Bountalo will perform traditional African songs and original compositions.

Kouyate has performed in a 2007 Earth Day remix of Dave Stewart’s “Go Green” with such artists as Sarah MacLachlan. He also has performed in the last year at Festival International Nuits D’Afrique in Montreal, Canada; with former student Zal Idrissa Sissokho and at British Columbia’s Festival du Bois.

Winchester Cultural Center has hosted musicians from all over the world through the World Vibration Concert Series during the last four years. Musicians from Brazil, Ireland, China, Thailand, Mexico and many other countries have brought their distinct rhythms to the Winchester stage. The series continues with Tommy Sands, who will perform traditional Irish music at 2 p.m. March 6.

Those interested can call 455-7340. Additional information and tickets can be found online at www.accessclarkcounty.com/parks. Clark County Parks and Recreation also can be found on social networking sites such as Twitter and Facebook by visiting http://tinyurl.com/l87c4l.

Tigers, Dragons, Lions To Fill The Forum Shops At Caesars This February For Chinese New Year

WHAT:
To celebrate Chinese New Year and the year of the Tiger, The Meadows School will perform the traditional dragon parade throughout The Forum Shops at Caesars.  The cast of singers and dancers includes 120 Meadows students – 60 from kindergarten and 60 from fifth grade plus the school’s very special guests Mayor Oscar Goodman and his wife, Carolyn.

Meadows students will perform a Chinese dragon parade featuring red and gold costumes (Chinese colors of joy), drums and firecrackers (to keep evil spirits away) accompanied by two large and colorful dragons (powered by students).  They will sing four songs in Chinese, with English translations.  This is the 13th year the school’s students have conducted a Chinese New Year performance at The Forum Shops.

WHO:
Kindergarten teachers Linda Verbon, Kim Cagle and Melissa Truesdell;  Librarian Marilyn Drake and Fifth Grade Teachers Bill Bissell, Linda Bookout, and  Kathy Brennen worked with all of the kindergarten and fifth grade teachers to organize the event. Volunteer Maggie Chen taught Chinese lyrics and customs to the students, while Meadows School Music Director Jeff Kriske coordinated the performance.

WHY:
Chinese New Year 2010 begins on Feb. 14.  In China and Taiwan, this is the longest and one of the most important festivities in the Lunar calendar.  Because the track of the new moon changes from year to year, Chinese New Year can begin anytime between late January and mid-February.

WHERE:
The Forum Shops at Caesars
Performers will begin the parade near Joe’s Seafood, Prime Steak & Stone Crab, continuing throughout the entire shopping center and stopping for a primary performance at the Fountain of the Gods in front of Gucci.  The parade will then continue, ending at The Forum Shops lower valet area.

WHEN:
Thursday, Feb. 18 at 10 a.m.
The parade takes place on Thursday, Feb. 18, the fifth day of the Chinese New Year and is considered a lucky day for merchants for it is the birthday for the Chinese god of wealth.  In China, firecrackers are lit to celebrate the reopening of stores after spending the holiday with family and friends.
