Louis Ramey, one of the top stand-up comedians working the circuit today, will headline producer Bob Kephart’s Comedy Stop at the Sahara Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas when it opens Monday, July 20 in the famed Congo Room.  Ramey will join Broadway actor Rick Crom and television veteran Jimmie “JJ” Walker, for the Comedy Stop’s opening week.

The Sahara’s stages have been home to countless stars over the past 57 years, including Johnny Carson, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Jerry Lewis and more.  Bob Kephart, a true comedic connoisseur, has discovered many famous names since the Comedy Stop began in 1983.  Performers like Drew Carey, Ray Romano, Lewis Black, Rosie O’Donnell and many more found their first big break on the Comedy Stop Stage.

“Both the Sahara and Comedy Stop have such iconic histories,” says Sahara Hotel & Casino President Arash Azarbarzin. “We are honored to present a show that has such great history and an eye for comics that are household names today like Ray Romano and Lewis Black.  The Comedy Stop is a great addition to the Sahara, which prides itself on being the home of great entertainment in Las Vegas throughout the years.  We look forward to seeing more great comics get their break on the Comedy Stop stage.”

“The Las Vegas Strip is a natural home for great comedy,” raves Comedy Stop creator and producer Bob Kephart. “Nationally-recognized comedians such as our opening week’s lineup, is what people can expect to find on the Congo Room stage.”

For the opening week, the comedians who will take the stage have a rich history in stand-up comedy.  Louis Ramey has performed for more than 20 years around the world shocking audiences with his unusual style of adult humor.  Ramey has performed on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno,” ABC’s “The View,” NBC’s “Last Call with Carson Daly” and most recently was in the top 5 in the 2008 edition of NBC’s “Last Comic Standing” where he was one of the finalists.

Rick Crom has been part of the New York entertainment community for a number of years as a songwriter, comedian and performer in venues on and off-Broadway. Crom’s routine on a piano is hilarious, as he parodies famous songs from the past and present.  Crom has been seen on many television comedy specials on networks such as MTV, Showtime and Comedy Central.

Jimmie “JJ” Walker, most known for his role on the 1970s program “Good Times” and his famous catchphrase “Dyn-o-mite!” will be the emcee for the opening week of the Comedy Stop.  Walker began his career as a stand-up comedian before making his television debut on the “Jack Paar Show” and “Rowan and Martin’s Laugh In.
