Actor, singer, dancer and Broadway theatre veteran Rick Faugno, who was named “Best Singer” by the Las Vegas Review-Journal staff in this year’s “Best of Las Vegas” poll based on his current role as Frankie Valli in “Jersey Boys,” will debut his first-ever solo performance for an afternoon of “Songs My Idols Sang (And Danced)” on Sunday, Aug, 23, at 3 p.m. at the South Point Casino Showroom.
“Songs My Idols Sang (And Danced)” is based on Faugno’s life story in show business, and how he got to where he is today with the love and support of his family and many others while growing up in New Jersey, on to Broadway and to the Las Vegas Strip. He spent the last several months creating the show and collaborating with his long-time love Joyce Chittick, a fellow Broadway performer, “Jersey Boys” alum, and choreographer, and with his musical director Keith Thompson, also a colleague of “Jersey Boys.”
“This show is a tribute to the people in my life and career who’ve supported me in everything that I ever wanted to do – from my parents and grandmother, to my dance teacher, to my girlfriend and soul mate Joyce, and to the icons of song and dance who I’ve looked up to since I was as a kid,” said Faugno.
The 80-minute musical showcase will feature a seven-piece band with some of the best musicians from the Strip, and will include Faugno’s performances of “Embraceable You,” “Fly Me To The Moon,” “Puttin’ On The Ritz,” “Cheek To Cheek,” and “Mr. Bojangles,” among others.
Faugno has built an impressive list of theatre, film and television credits while performing throughout the U.S. Just last month he performed on the 63rd Annual Tony Awards® representing the Las Vegas production of “Jersey Boys.” Some of his theatre credits include Broadway performances in “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang,” “Conversations With My Father,” “Wonderful Town,” “Fosse,” “The Will Rogers Follies,” and the national tours of “Jersey Boys,” “The Boy Friend,” and “Fosse.” Film and television credits include Tri-Star’s “Looking For An Echo,” “Two Bits” by Miramax, “American Dreams,” “Adventures Of Pete & Pete,” and the Kennedy Center’s 25th Anniversary Gala on PBS. Faugno holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Acting and Theatre from New York University. Visit his website at http://web.mac.com/rickfaugno.
