As the thermometer breaks the “boiling point” in the sweltering heat of the impending summer months, Minus 5 Experience is offering cool relief to the first person to correctly predict the day that the temperature reaches 105 degrees in Las Vegas.
To enter the 105º at Minus 5 contest, contestants must email winner@minus5experience.com with their contact information and their guess. The lucky lady or lad to correctly guess the day and date that the Vegas Valley will hit 105 degrees will receive a prize pack for five, including complimentary VIP entry to Minus 5 Experience, including faux fur parkas and cocktails, dinner for five at Rick Moonen’s rm seafood restaurant and a table with bottle service at MIX Lounge, atop Mandalay Bay Hotel Casino. All entries and participants must be 21 years of age and all rules and regulations will be available at terms of use on the Minus 5 website. The official weather report will be monitored by the National Weather Service at www.nws.noaa.gov. Minus 5 Experience will be responsible for contacting the winner and distributing the prizes.
As the first permanent ice lounge in the United States, the Minus 5 Experience is a bar and lounge unlike any other. The entire 2,000 sq. ft. ice lounge is skillfully crafted out of ice and offers cool martinis and cocktails that can be sipped from frozen ice glasses. Patrons are kept warm with parkas, mittens and booties while in the lounge, which is kept at a cool minus 5 degrees Celsius, or 23 degrees Fahrenheit.
“The famous Las Vegas heat can be intolerable and what better way to squelch the scorch then to celebrate the summer with your closest friends at the coolest spot in Sin City,” said Craig Ling, founder of the Minus 5 Experience. “Triple digit heat in Vegas is inescapable. It is not a matter of if, only a matter of when, and we want to reward the individual who can predict the day it will officially reach 105 degrees.”
After enjoying the wonders of the sub-freezing environment, visitors can make their way to the Minus 5 Lodge, a warm, rustic pub adjacent to the Minus 5 Experience that is themed after great arctic explorers. The Minus 5 Lodge features ironwood beams, river stones, leather seats and an open hearth to create an earthy, natural environment and a welcoming ambience. The Minus 5 Lodge accommodates up to 150 people in a cocktail-style setting.
Group function catering is available with a sumptuous menu by celebrated chef Rick Moonen of rm seafood restaurant at Mandalay Place. The Minus 5 Lodge is a superb environment where guests can warm up in style and reflect on their Minus 5 adventure – the perfect end to an entirely unique experience.
The Las Vegas location is the first of many U.S. based Minus 5 ice lounges. General public admission into the ice lounge is $25 and includes a cocktail. Reservations for group and corporate arrangements can be made by calling 702.740.5800; or lasvegas@minus5experience.com. For more information, www.minus5experience.com.
