The public is invited to attend “It’s a Girl Thing,” an art exhibit featuring a wide range of media by 18 Las Vegas artists. The exhibit currently is open to the public at the Reed Whipple Cultural Center, 821 Las Vegas Blvd. North. The exhibit is free and available through Oct. 10, 2009.

The exhibit concept, created by Gallery Program Coordinator Jeanne Voltura, was designed to inspire the artists’ work in either a literal or non-literal way. Both men and women were invited to exhibit in order to encourage an open interpretation of this gender-based theme.

The artists invited to exhibit in “It’s a Girl Thing” are: Jay Bailey, Montana Black, Catherine Cruse, Mary Lou Evans, Jennifer and Brian Henry, Kyla Hansen, Ann Hoff, Merrilee Hortt, Rebekah Just, Laurenn McCubbin, Misuzu May Nomura, Grayson Ronk, Lance Smith, Tarissa Tiberti, Marty Walsh, Mary Warner and Joseph Watson.

This exhibit is presented by the city of Las Vegas Office of Cultural Affairs. The Reed Whipple Cultural Center is open Tuesday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and is closed Sundays, Mondays and holidays. Please call (702) 229-1012 for more information.
