Excitement is mounting as residents prepare for the Henderson Heritage Parade & Festival, a celebration of the City’s rich traditions and community spirit over the years, on Saturday, April 18 from 10 a.m.-8 p.m. at the Henderson Events Plaza, located at 200 S. Water Street, in the Water Street District. Admission is free.
“Now is the time for the community to come together,” said Andrea Primo, Director of the Cultural Arts & Tourism Department. “The event is a special occasion for Henderson residents to acknowledge the City’s roots and its transformation over the years through affordable entertainment options.”
Kicking of the festivities will be the Heritage Parade down Water Street, from Ocean Avenue to Victory Road, at 10 a.m. It will feature marching bands, special interest vehicles, youth groups and floats dressed to the theme, “Around the World.” All entries will be judged to win over $2,000 in prizes.
Following the parade, families will be able to enjoy delicious world cuisine, hours of live entertainment, craft and cooking demonstrations, courtesy of the International Food & Folklife Association, from 11 a.m.-8 p.m.
A car show along Water Street, from Basic Street to Atlantic Avenue, showcasing classic cars, vintage vehicles and hot rods will round the day’s activities following the parade until 5 p.m. Trophies and awards will be given for several different categories.
