Flair bartenders vie for $30,000 in cash prizes and championship title.

Harrah’s Carnaval Court welcomes the world’s most skilled flair bartenders Nov. 9 – 12, for the first-annual “Rums of Puerto Rico U.S. Flair Open.” The outdoor, Strip-side venue has earned the reputation as the world’s premier flair bar, thus it is fitting that the best-of-the-best will flock to Carnaval Court to compete for the championship title and $30,000 in prize money.

Contestants flip, spin, throw, balance and catch bottles, drinks, and various bar staples as they compete in one of three divisions: amateur, advanced and professional. The bartenders must qualify in a series of preliminary events during the first two days of competition in order to secure a spot in the finals on the third day.

A panel of five judges will score participants on a variety of elements including difficulty, smoothness, variety, originality, overall entertainment and showmanship. The top ten finishers in the professional division will take home cash prizes, with the grand prize winner taking home $10,000.

The schedule for the four-day event is as follows:  Registration: Mon. Nov. 9; Qualifying Rounds: Tues.  Nov. 10 from 12:30 p.m. – 10:30 p.m. and Wed. Nov. 11 from 12:30 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.; Finals: Thurs. Nov. 12 from 6:00 p.m. – 11:30 p.m.  The public 21 and older is welcome to watch the competition and cheer on their favorite flair bartenders.
