G.L.O. Festival Joins First Friday Las Vegas (R) Events May 7
A Celebration Of Light, Art, Music & Performance Will Take Place In The Downtown Las Vegas Arts District
The city of Las Vegas will present the Global Light Objects (G.L.O) Festival as part of First Friday on May 7 from 6 to 10 p.m. in the downtown Arts District. This free event, a celebration of light, visual arts, music, performance and great company, will take place along with other regularly scheduled events of First Friday Las Vegas, presented monthly by Whirlygig, Inc. On South Casino Center Boulevard, between Charleston Boulevard and East California Street, the G.L.O. Festival highlights will include:
Artist invitational exhibitions by Anthony Bondi, Denise Duarte, Miguel Rodriguez, Todd Von Bastiaans and K. D. Matheson;
Improv on the street with a special appearance by the Steam Powered Giraffes, a roving musical pantomime;
“10 Years of Burning Man,” a street-side film screening at dusk on the giant screen;
A remembrance of the Las Vegas Centennial’s 100 Mural Project of five years ago; and
The Spontaneous G.L.O. Parade – join a glowing conga line wearing your best light costume.
Additional festival activities on Boulder Plaza at Main Street and Boulder Avenue will include:
Artist invitational exhibitions by Todd Dwayne Miller, Barbara and Larry Domsky, Montana Black, Linda Whitehair, Mario Smith and Jerry Misko; and
The Rocky Gordon Duo performing live.

El Cortez/First Friday Express Trolley
The El Cortez Hotel & Casino is sponsoring an Express Trolley. The trolley will take patrons from the El Cortez, 600 East Fremont Street at the Cortez Garden Gateway (with 1,200 free parking spaces in the garage and also valet) to The Funk House Trolley Stop at First Friday (and back again). The bus will run from 6:00 p.m.(starting at the El Cortez) until 10:00 p.m. with the last First Friday stop at approximately 9:30 p.m. Take advantage of the convenient parking and avoid traffic after the event. You can also enjoy the Entertainment District’s after parties when you arrive back at the El Cortez.

Holsum Design Center – IMPRESSION – Design students from College of Southern Nevada – Cheyenne Campus selected their quote and visually developed the profound statements into posters. The graphic posters represent the future designers of our community and their ability to conceptualize and construct from their learning experience at CSN.

Retro Vegas, 1211 S Main, Mon – Sat 11 – 6, 702-384-2700 Gigi and Bobby Deal are local artists pursuing directional art. Gigi’s work involves collage and mixed media. She specializes in taking the lovelorn, timeworn, and forlorn and using it to create, once again, something that is lingering, enduring, and melancholic. Bobby is a Commercial photographer specializing in artistic glamour portraiture. He is currently shooting two separate coffee table book projects featuring Las Vegas and Southern California models and entertainers.
