Vegas StrEATs Festival – Saturday, Aug. 11

El Cortez hosts the monthly Vegas StrEATs food-truck, arts and music festival on the Jackie Gaughan Parkway from 6 p.m. to 1 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 11. Many of Las Vegas’ favorite food trucks participate in Vegas StrEATs each month along with local art and clothing vendors from across the city. Presented by El Cortez, Slidin’ Thru and Insert Coin(s) VideoLounge Gamebar, Vegas StrEATs brings food, live art and music to the Fremont East Entertainment District. Drink specials throughout the festival include $3 Bud Light, Shock Top and Bud Light Lime, $4 Jameson Irish Whiskey, Jagermeister and 1800 Silver Tequila shots and $2 Pepsi products.

Karaoke Fridays inside The Parlour – Every Friday at 10 p.m.

The Parlour inside El Cortez becomes downtown Las Vegas’ go-to destination for karaoke every Friday at 10 p.m. throughout August. From classics hits to today’s chart toppers, brave patrons can entertain their friends and other guests of The Parlour during this intimate Friday night party. The vintage-style lounge will feature $3 drink specials, including kamikazes, Jager bombs, Cabo bombs, cherry bombs and Irish car bombs.

Friends of The Smith Center Enjoy Benefits at El Cortez

El Cortez Hotel & Casino welcomes friends of The Smith Center for the Performing Arts to downtown Las Vegas by extending on-property benefits to show-goers. Individuals who show an official “Friends of the Smith Center” card or Smith Center show tickets and stubs on the same date as a performance can receive a $10 discount on an entrée at The Flame Steakhouse, a complimentary cocktail inside The Parlour, and a complimentary additional night’s stay after booking a one-night stay at El Cortez.

Gift Cards for Jackpot Winners in August

Throughout August, Club Cortez players winning a jackpot of $200 or more on a slot machine, a $200 or more jackpot on a video poker five-cent or lower denomination machine, a $300 or more jackpot on a video poker ten-cent or high denomination machine or a $200 or more jackpot on live keno will receive their choice of a free gift card from Walgreens, Smith’s, Walmart, Shell and Chevron. Free Marie Callendar’s Strawberry Pie for Club Cortez Players – Saturday, Aug. 4

El Cortez Hotel & Casino is serving free slices of fresh Marie Callendar’s strawberry pie on Saturday, Aug. 4. Club Cortez members can enjoy free Marie Callendar’s strawberry pies while they play slots and table games, and the complimentary pies will be served from noon to 6 p.m. Marie Callendar’s is famous for their tasty selection of homemade pies, and the fresh strawberry with sweet, ripe strawberries tossed in a light glaze inside a freshly baked crust is a seasonal favorite.

El Cortez Vintage Dining & Cocktail Menus

Due to popular demand, The Flame Steakhouse will continue serving selected items from the vintage dining and cocktail menus in 2012. The menus, created in 2011 to honor the property’s 70th anniversary, dust off Las Vegas’ old recipe books and reintroduce a few classic favorites. These iconic dishes will be available at the Flame Steakhouse every Tuesday through Thursday.

Vintage Dining Menu

Appetizer: Oysters Rockefeller, fresh shucked Kusshi oysters baked with fresh spinach, hollandaise sauce and Pernod

Entree: Tournedos of beef Rossini, twin Filet Mignonettes, pan fried in butter, topped with pate Foie Gras and Madeira demi-glace

Dessert: Strawberries Romanoff, fresh hulled strawberries macerated in Cointreau and orange juice, served with fresh whipped cream and ice cream

Vintage Cocktail Menu

The vintage cocktail menu will be served at The Parlour, located on El Cortez’s casino floor. This menu celebrates the history of mixology by educating guests on the origins of classic cocktails while offering a chance for them to enjoy their favorites. The menu includes cocktails such as the side car, which originated in the 1920s during World War I; the mint julep, which originated in the 1700s and is one of the country’s oldest cocktails; the blood and sand, a drink from the 1930 premiere of a Rudolph Valentino film; the aviation, a drink created in the 1910s by the head bartender at the Hotel Wallick in New York, and many more.

Free Klondike Bars for Club Cortez Players

El Cortez Hotel & Casino is helping Club Cortez members beat the heat by serving free Klondike bars for players who hit a jackpot of $25 or more every Wednesday in August. Klondike bars have been a dessert favorite of Americans since the 1920s.

Café Cortez Dinner Specials

Visit Café Cortez for prime rib dinner for only $7.95. Meal includes choice of soup or salad. Try the vegetarian offerings including a veggie burger, veggie fajita and veggie Chow Mein. Café Cortez also offers a full Chinese menu served from 4 to 10 p.m.

Graveyard Specials

Café Cortez serves a limited graveyard menu Sunday through Thursday from 10:30 p.m. to 7 a.m.

Specials include:

Two eggs with choice of bacon or sausage, breakfast potatoes and toast for $4.75 plus tax.
Ham and two eggs, breakfast potatoes and toast for $7.25 plus tax.

Bar Specials

Happy Hour – Sunday through Thursday 2-for-1 happy hour from 5 to 7 p.m. at all casino bars. Offer valid on all martinis and top shelf selections including Grey Goose, Tanqueray 10, Crown Royal, Johnnie Walker Red, Patron Silver and Bacardi Gold.
