Sessions Returns to the Fiesta Room – Friday, June 7, 2013

The El Cortez concert series, Sessions, makes it return to the Fiesta Room on Friday, June 7, as a part of the First Friday festivities in the heart of downtown Las Vegas. The concert series gathers up-and-coming artists performing original songs, as well as renditions of fan favorites on the Fiesta Room stage. Bands kick off the event at 9 p.m. Cost is $10 at the door.

Vegas StrEATs Festival – Saturday, June 8, 2013

El Cortez hosts the monthly Vegas StrEATs food-truck, arts and music festival on the Jackie Gaughan Parkway from 6 p.m. to 1 a.m. on Saturday, June 8. Many of Las Vegas’ favorite food trucks participate in Vegas StrEATs each month along with local art and clothing vendors from across the city. Yelp Gets Poetic with 89XXXpose – Sunday, June 9, 2013

Yelp, the popular business directory service and review site with social networking features, will hold the 89XXXpose poetry reading on June 9 from 6-8 p.m. inside the Fiesta Room as a part of their 89XXXhibition. A group of Las Vegas writers, poets, story tellers, comedians and performers will take the stage to share their stories of their experiences in the city of Las Vegas. The event will be hosted by Matt Donelly, co-host of Penn’s Sunday School podcast. A suggested donation of $5 will be taken at the door with 100% of donation proceeds benefitting Communities in Schools. Additionally fans can enjoy a literary treat called the Hemingway Daiquiri, a mix of white rum, maraschino liqueur, fresh fruit juices and simple syrup for $7.

Weekend Karaoke inside The Parlour

The Parlour inside El Cortez becomes downtown Las Vegas’ go-to destination for karaoke every Friday, Saturday and Sunday evening at 10 p.m. From classics hits to today’s chart toppers, brave patrons can entertain their friends and guests during this exciting weekend party.

Award-Winning Elvis Presley Tribute

John Brooks, an award-winning Elvis Presley tribute artist, continues his performance inside The Parlour every Friday and Saturday from 6 to 10 p.m. throughout June.

El Cortez Hotel & Casino is serving free White Castle cheeseburgers to celebrate Flag Day on Friday, June 14.
