Officers receive two free tickets April 30 and 10% proceeds from May 1 and 2 will be donated to the Injured Police Officer’s Fund

Bonkerz Comedy Club inside the Palace Station Hotel and Casino invites local law enforcement to laugh it off with two complimentary tickets to see “Police Academy” star and “the sound effects guy” Michael Winslow on April 30. Officers have the right to remain laughing through May 1 and 2 with four additional Winslow shows at 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. Ten percent of the proceeds from these four shows will be donated to the Injured Police Officer’s Fund.

All employees of Las Vegas Metro, Nevada Highway Patrol; and City of North Las Vegas, Boulder City and Henderson police departments can receive two complimentary tickets to see “the sound effects guy” simply by presenting their badge. Tickets will be available at the Palace Station Box Office only on April 30 beginning at 6 p.m. with the show starting at 8 p.m. Tickets will be based on availability and  patrons must be 21 years or older to attend.

The Injured Police Officers Fund (IPOF) was formed in October 1982 when Las Vegas Metro Motor Officer James MacLaren was shot in the head during a traffic stop. Fortunately, Officer MacLaren survived his injuries but was forced into medical retirement. The IPOF assists officers similar to MacLaren who have sustained serious line-of-duty injuries or a line-of-duty death and have extensive expenses that are not covered by work insurance. The IPOF helps officers from Las Vegas Metro, Henderson, North Las Vegas, Boulder City, the southern region of Nevada Highway Patrol, City of Mesquite Police, City of Las Vegas Detention and Enforcement, University of Nevada Las Vegas Police, Clark County Park Police and Clark County School District Police.

Michael Winslow, best-known for his role of Larvelle Jones in the “Police Academy” films, is a master of vocal gymnastics and can imitate more than 1,000 sound effects using his voice alone. In addition to the “Police Academy” films, he has appeared in Mel Brooks’ “Spaceballs,” “Coming Attractions” and was heard as the voice of Stripe in the hit movie “Gremlins.” Recently he has appeared in a Geico commercial, provided his voice for characters on television shows such as “Family Guy” and “Robo Chicken” and is currently working on a new project with Bill Cosby.
