WHAT:
The Village at Las Vegas hosts dozens of chili makers from across the country in the 2009 Silver State Regional Chili Cook-Off, sanctioned by the International Chili Society. Cooks will produce their best Red Chili, Chili Verde and salsa to be judged.
A People’s Choice Award will allow the public to vote for their favorite and this unsanctioned category has no rules so cooks are encouraged to use their creativity.
In addition to the chili samplings, guests can partake in a raffle for great prizes, giveaways and a bounce house for the kids. A DJ will keep the energy going throughout the day. Sonrisa Grill will offer a 10 percent discount to all cooks and volunteers on the day of the event. Guests can stay into the evening and enjoy “Jazz on the Lake” a free lakeside concert featuring local jazz musician Sid the Kid.

7 p.m. – “Jazz on the Lake” concert begins

COST:

Yacht cruises will also be available at 2 p.m.; cost is $25 per-couple or $15 per-single.
