Sports and racing fans can get an early jump on NASCAR weekend at the Sahara Hotel & Casino.  In preparation for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series and NASCAR Nationwide Series race weekend (February 26-28) in Las Vegas, NASCAR Cafe located inside the Sahara will host a meet-and-greet with NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver David Reutimann and two autograph signing sessions featuring NASCAR Nationwide Series driver Trevor Bayne and notable NASCAR author Andrew Giangola.  Mark your calendars for:

Fremont Street Experience in downtown Las Vegas will host renowned author of 1969: The Year Everything Changed, Rob Kirkpatrick, for a meet and greet and book signing on Friday, July 24.
 
In 2009, Rob Kirkpatrick published the book, 1969: The Year Everything Changed. Divided into four parts that correspond with the four seasons of the year, the book chronicles the history of 1969 in American society and culture. Kirkpatrick delves into such important events as the Richard Nixon’s inauguration, the birth of punk music and the first Led Zeppelin tour, Easy Rider, the riots at People’s Park, Stonewall and the Days of Rage, the Apollo 11 moon landing, the Woodstock Festival, to name a few.
 
The book signing will be held at John Van Hamersveld’s Hippie Nation Gallery & Records on Friday, July 24 from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Copies of Kirkpatrick’s 1969: The Year Everything Changed, can be purchased at the event for $24.95.  All are welcome to attend this special meet and greet opportunity with the author and purchase a copy of his book to be autographed.

Former NBA great Michael Brown will sign autographs at the Hoop Hall Experience (HHX), the official Basketball Hall of Fame’s touring exhibit, at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas at 3 – 4 p.m. Saturday, May 30.

Towering at six feet nine inches, Brown, a former power forward and center, owned the court at George Washington University in the early 1980s, earning the nickname “The New Washington Monument.” After four years of college ball, he was selected by the Chicago Bulls in the third round of the 1985 NBA Draft. Brown played 11 seasons (1986-1997) in the NBA as a member of the Bulls, the Utah Jazz, the Minnesota Timberwolves, the Philadelphia 76ers and the Phoenix Suns before retiring with career totals of 3,130 points and 2,762 rebounds. Brown also served as an assistant coach for the Chicago Bulls for a short time primarily to work with the Bulls’ young centers and forwards.

Now, Brown has hung up his sneakers and whistle to focus on his charity, The Embracing Project, a nonprofit organization dedicated to the development of youth. The organization focuses on preventing youth violence through outreach educational programs, drug and health awareness and group activities.

Located on the mezzanine level, the HHX is where the story of basketball comes to life in more than 17,000 square feet of fun.
