Stratosphere Casino, Hotel & Tower will host a “Red, White and You” pool party on Sunday, July 4 starting at 11 a.m. It will be the ultimate Independence Day party, open to the public with free cover, drink and food specials and live entertainment. The ultra sexy girls from BITE and the cast of American Superstars will make special appearances throughout the day to ensure the party keeps rocking. After a full day of partying, revelers will want to head up to Level 107 Lounge or Air Bar, the highest bar in Las Vegas located on level 108. These will be the best spots on the Strip to watch fireworks all over the Las Vegas valley.

Drinks will be flowing with $2 Jello shots, $18 Absolut Exposure pitchers, $9 Independence Punch and $10 vodka-infused baby watermelon. There is no better way to celebrate America than with a barbeque, so Stratosphere is offering $6 food specials including Jim Beam-roasted garlic barbeque smoked brisket on a Kaiser roll with jalapeno pineapple cole slaw, ancho chili barbequed grilled chicken sandwich with jalapeno pineapple cole slaw and Budweiser-braised bratwurst with sautéed peppers and onions. All sandwiches are accompanied by Cajun kettle chips.

Guests can play to win poolside at Bikini Blackjack from 1 p.m. until closing with beautiful bikini-clad dealers. DJ Sol Sirch will spin the sounds of summer to entertain pool party guests from noon to 8 p.m. Volleyball, beer pong, bags and other fun beach games will be set up on the deck.

Located outdoors on the eighth floor of the World Tower, the Level 8 Pool features a 67,000 square foot deck, hot tub, private cabanas and poolside cafe and bar.

Jerry’s Nugget Casino honors “The Man in Black” with a encore performances of Tribute to Johnny Cash on Saturday, Dec 12, 2009, in its Royal Street Theater with shows at 3 p.m. and 6 p.m.

The 90-minute show features Jimmie Ray & the Ring of Fire with Jimmie Ray starring as Johnny Cash and Cyndi Cantrell as June Carter, with special guest appearance by Tom Flagg as Willie Nelson. Something magical happens when the first notes of “Folsom Prison Blues” are heard and Ray begins, “I hear the train a comin’….” The same emotion is felt as Cantrell delivers a heart-rending version of Carter singing, “Help Me Make it Through the Night.” Together, Ray and Cantrell break into the always crowd pleasing, energetic classic “Jackson.” The show is a musical journey from Cash’s days in the Arkansas cotton fields through the very last song he wrote and recorded, “Like the 309.”

Each show will present some of Cash’s greatest hits in addition to a featured genre – the 3 p.m. show is the Johnny Cash Country Show with emphasis on the grass roots music Cash and Carter both wrote and recorded. The 6 p.m. show is the Johnny Cash Rockabilly Show with emphasis on the dark and bad boy music Cash was at times known for. Each show will also close with a collection of well-known holiday songs as done by Cash, Carter and Nelson.

Guests must be 21 years and older to attend and the cover is $10 with a two-drink minimum. WHAT:

“The Dolls of Japan” exhibit opens to the public, September 8. The attraction, sponsored by the City of Henderson and the Japan America Society of Nevada, celebrates the diversity of the arts, culture and traditions of the Japanese. Henderson is the only stop in the continental United States in 2009.

Clark County students, as well as members of the community, will have the opportunity to view 70 unique dolls dressed in traditional clothing, hairstyles and adornments. Museum curators from the Japan Foundation in Tokyo selected the most fascinating figurines including the Hina Ningyo (dolls of the Hina Festival) and Gogatsu Ningyo (dolls for the Boy’s Festival) to be displayed. The exhibit will serve as an educational tool for visitors to learn about the various characteristics of the Japanese culture.
