Bonkerz Comedy Club Hosts Fundraiser To Benefit Haiti

WHAT:
Bonkerz Comedy Club is hosting a fundraiser during two of its shows this weekend to help with the recent devastation in Haiti. Both shows are headlined by Bear and 50 percent of the proceeds from shows will be donated to the American Red Cross towards Haiti relief and development.
Bear has performed at numerous comedy clubs and casinos across the country as well as appeared on CBS’ “Comedy Night School.” She has a fresh outlook on life and jokes about topics such as being gay, teaching and sports.

Bonkerz Comedy Club inside Palace Station and patrons attending Friday’s 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. shows. Headlining Comedian Bear is available for interviews.

WHAT:

New Orleans’ own Dumpstaphunk is set to perform at B.B. King’s Blues Club on Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2010, at 8 p.m. Performing songs like “She’s Music,” Dumpstaphunk’s original New Orleans sound will bring Big Easy flavor to Las Vegas.

Dumpstaphunk was formed in 2003 by keyboardist Ivan Neville, son of celebrated singer Aaron Neville; Ian Neville, Ivan’s cousin, on guitar; Nick Daniels and Tony Hall on double-bass; and Raymond Weber on drums. Originally a side-project, Dumpstaphunk is now the primary focus of the band members and was voted “New Orleans Best Funk Band” in 2007 by both Offbeat Magazine and Gambit Weekly. Dumpstaphunk has performed with The Rolling Stones, Dave Matthews and Bonnie Rait, to name a few. They have also have been featured at some of the nation’s biggest music festivals, including Bonnaroo, Voodoo Fest and High Sierra.

2009 American Idol Kris Allen will make a special guest appearance at B.B. King’s Blues Club this Friday, performing a solo acoustic set. His previous appearance at B.B. King’s saw him perform with a full band, playing hits from his latest album as well as spins on favorite songs from years past.

Allen’s path to the recent “American Idol” victory included memorable performances of Bill Withers’ “Ain’t No Sunshine,” Michael Jackson’s “Man in the Mirror” and Kanye West’s “Heartless.” He was praised by the judges for his original arrangements of such well-known songs. Since the finale, Allen has had multiple songs appear on the Billboard charts and his finale song “No Boundaries” was No. 1 on the iTunes chart. Earlier this month, Allen released his debut album for 19 Recordings/Jive, featuring the already hit single “Live Like We’re Dying”.

The Cannery Casino & Hotel Celebrates The King’s Life With Special Performances By Close Friends And Co-Stars On January 8 and 9, 2010

Elvis’ favorite foods to be featured at The Cannery Row Buffet
Back by popular demand, Cannery Casino & Hotel will celebrate the King’s life with special performances by Johnny Fortuno, The Stamps Quartet as well as other special guests, friends and co-stars of Elvis Presley.  On Friday, January 8 and Saturday, January 9 the concert will start at 8 p.m. at The Club inside Cannery Casino & Hotel.  Admission is $10 at the door.

Critics and celebrities have praised Fortuno as one of the top Elvis Presley tribute artists. His tribute to the classic Elvis hits will bring the audience back to the performance they wished they had the chance to see many years ago. Fortuno has a raw energy and powerful stage presence which makes his live appearances thrilling and enjoyable. Fortuno will perform many of Elvis’ hits including, “Don’t Be Cruel,” “Heartbreak Hotel,” “Suspicious Minds” and “In The Ghetto.”
 
One of Elvis’ musical influences came from the Gospel music he heard in church and at the all-night Gospel gatherings. Gospel group The Stamps Quartet performed regularly with Elvis Presley on many recordings and concerts as back up. Elvis called The Stamps Quartet his favorite group of Gospel singers.
 
Other special guests will include Elvis’ personal friend and bodyguard, Sonny West; Elvis’ Kissin’ Cousins co-star, Cynthia Pepper; Elvis’ Blue Hawaii co-star, Darlene Tompkins; DJ with “Elvis on Air,” Steve Christopher; and other surprises.
 
The Cannery Row Buffet will also be taking part in the fun with a special “Food That Fed The King” section.  Fans can dine on some of Elvis’ favorite dishes like deep fried pickles, peanut butter & banana sandwiches, southern fried chicken, smothered pork chops, collard greens, green bean casserole, ham hocks, and potato & cheese soup.  Other activities taking place throughout the weekend will include memorabilia dealers and fan club displays.

Centennial Hills Rotary Club Hosts Charity Gold Tourmament To Benefit Nevada Childhood Cancer Foundation

On Sunday November 15 the Centennial Hills Rotary Club is hosting a charity golf tournament to benefit the Nevada Childhood Cancer Foundation.

Free Station Casinos November 2009 House Entertainment

Station Casinos continues to entertain Las Vegas locals with a number of new weekly acts and shows at several of its properties in addition to its trademark entertainment that the city has grown to love.

New shows include southern rockers Nawgahyde performing hits from bands like ZZ Top, Grand Funk Railroad and Blue Oyster Cult every Saturday at Sunset Station. Echoes of the ’60s join the Thursday lineup at Green Valley Ranch, while Rat Pack Fridays takes over at Texas Station. Michael Grimm is no longer performing at Ovation, but guests can still enjoy his music while dining and drinking at Hank’s Fine Steaks & Martinis. Most shows are free or will be noted below if they have a minimal cover charge. Coming this month are:
