Fremont Street Experience is hosting a free “Camp Vegas” concert by hot up–and–coming band Neon Trees on Thursday, August 12 at 9 p.m.

After touring with The Killers, playing Lollapalooza in Chicago on August 6 and headlining the “Bang The Gong Tour” this year, Neon Trees bring their perfect mix of melodic and hard–hitting organic rock to Fremont Street Experience for a special performance on the 3rd Street Stage.

The hit song “Animal” by Neon Trees, which was recently named Rolling Stone Magazine’s “Artist of the Week,” is featured in national television commercials for the LVCVA’s Camp Vegas summer promotion. Radio contest winners from Los Angeles, Phoenix, San Francisco, San Diego and Seattle – courtesy of the LVCVA – will also be in attendance enjoying the concert from Fremont Street Experience’s VIP red carpet area.

Neon Trees, a synth–pop band from Provo, Utah was formed in 2004 by lead vocalist Tyler Glenn and guitarist Chris Allen. The band was complete when Branden Campbell (originally form Las Vegas) and Elaine Bradley joined the group on bass and drums, respectively. After hearing them in 2008, The Killers drummer, Ronnie Vannucci Jr., was impressed and played a key role in getting them signed to Mercury Records. Neon Trees’ debut album Habits reached #1 on the US Alternative New Artist Chart and top 10 overall on iTunes. The band’s name originates from the lighted trees outside of In–N–Out Burger restaurants’ frequently seen in California.

McFadden’s is doing good deeds by putting on a food drive that will be co-hosted by Spot Pakk to benefit Three Square. McFadden’s will reward guests with one free cocktail for every can, and an open bar for 10 cans that includes domestic drafts and vodka from 10 p.m. until midnight. Guests lending extra donations for Three Square with 25 cans or more will receive a complimentary bottle of Pearl Vodka. In other words, no good deed goes unpunished.

Fremont Street Experience continues to present “Summer of the ’70s” by welcoming Wild Heart, a Fleetwood Mac tribute band performing free concerts July 27–31. With chart–toppers like “Don’t Stop,” “Go Your Own Way,” and “You Make Lovin’ Fun” Fleetwood Mac is one of the most successful and beloved bands of the ’70s. Wild Heart will perform three sets nightly, each starting after the top–of–the–hour Viva Vision shows at 9, 10 and 11 p.m.

Wild Heart is a six–member group from Las Vegas. Forming over nine years ago, the band alternates among three different lead singers to replicate the voices of Lindsey Buckingham, Stevie Nicks, and Christine McVie. Members of the band are no newcomers to the music industry with individual accomplishments including opening for Cheap Trick and Joan Jett and touring with Chuck Berry and Chubby Checker.

The band includes the following: Brad Torchin (lead vocals/lead guitar), Julie Torchin (lead vocals/rhythm guitar), Sonia Kemeny (lead vocals), Dave Davis (drums/percussion), Danny Buss (bass) and Benjamin Winbury (keyboard/backup vocals).

The music and culture from the decade of the 1970s is being featured in downtown Las Vegas this summer as Fremont Street Experience presents the “Summer of the ’70s” festival and free concert series. Eastside Cannery Casino & Hotel will celebrate its two-year anniversary during the month of August. The “Canniversary” celebration will officially kick off on Sunday, August 1 with free cupcakes and champagne in Marilyn’s Lounge from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. “Canniversary” events include a performance by Grammy Award-winning Brian McKnight on Saturday, August 21 in the Casablanca Event Center; a special casino player event on Friday, August 27 starring Rich Little and gaming promotions and giveaways throughout the month.

Fremont Street Experience will host the Ultimate Elvis Weekend as part of “Summer of the ’70s” festival. On Friday, July 23 and Saturday, July 24 the Elvis Presley Enterprises, Inc.–sanctioned preliminary round of the Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Contest will take place for the first time in Las Vegas. Over 20 Elvis competitors will don their blue suede shoes in front of guest judges for a chance to compete in Memphis for the national title.

At midnight on Friday and Saturday, visitors to Fremont Street Experience can participate in a group vow renewal wedding ceremony. “The Midnight Mass” will be conducted by “Elvis” in front of the 1st Street Stage. From midnight to 2 a.m. Elvis fans can sing their favorite classics at Elvis Karaoke on Main Street Stage. Finally, fans will have a chance to win the Ultimate Elvis Giveaway where two lucky winners will win a trip to Graceland in Memphis or on an Elvis–themed cruise.
