The birthday celebration kicks off with a free open bar for all November babies from 10 p.m. until midnight. Tacos & Tequila at Luxor Hotel and Casino will ‘salud’ PBR fans with a series of events in celebration of PBR World Finals. Starting Monday, Oct. 24, the hopping Mexican restaurant will feature free rides on the Tecate Light mechanical bull, giveaways from the Tecate Chicas, autograph signings with some of PBR’s top bull riders and an array of drink specials.

The party starts on Monday, Oct. 24, from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. with free mechanical bull rides on the Tecate Light mechanical bull, an autograph signing with professional bull riders Cord McCoy and Ryan McConnell and giveaways from the Tecate Chicas. T&T will also feature $5 bottles of Tecate Lights from Monday, Oct. 24 through Friday, Oct. 28.

Named one of the best tequila bars of 2011 in America by USA Today, Tacos & Tequila embodies the cool modernism of Mexico City while incorporating traditional elements of Mexican style and Las Vegas flair. WHAT: Shark Reef Aquarium at Mandalay Bay (click link to book) will eerily transform into Haunted Reef on Saturday, Oct. 29 from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.  Costumed children 12 and under will receive complimentary access and sugary sweets.

Guests 17 years of age and older will also receive complimentary admission upon donating blood at the United Blood Services booth. The booth, set up just for Haunted Reef, will be open Saturday, Oct. 29 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Fearsome predators including sharks and a rare Komodo dragon with dagger-like teeth and piercing razor-sharp claws will lurk in exhibits, terrorizing spectators.  Rattling chains, creaking doors and haunting music will replace the normally soothing sounds of the ocean and the jungle. As visitors walk through Haunted Reef’s dark and spooky tunnels, they will pass ghostly decorations and jack-o-lanterns lining the walls.

Casino legend and gaming pioneer Jackie Gaughan will celebrate his 91th birthday by sharing cake and champagne with El Cortez (click link to book) guests on Monday, Oct. 24 from noon to 6 p.m.  Guests are also welcomed to sign a giant birthday card for the Las Vegas pioneer.

Gaughan owned or operated several hotels and casinos during his career including the Flamingo, Showboat Casino, Union Plaza Hotel & Casino, Golden Nugget Hotel & Casino, Las Vegas Club Hotel & Casino, Gold Spike Hotel & Casino, Western Casino and the El Cortez.

Although he is now retired, the El Cortez penthouse remains Gaughan’s home. On most days, Gaughan can still be spotted playing poker on the El Cortez casino floor.

Gaughan’s influence over Las Vegas is seen to this day. He was one of the pioneers to bring boxing to Las Vegas, and his knowledge of slots made him one of the city’s top experts, with other casino owners coming to him for advice. He was also the first casino owner to institute ”funbooks” for playing customers. Current Las Vegas visionary Steve Wynn credits Gaughan for helping him get his start at the Golden Nugget.

Hash House a Go Go and MIX 94.1 host the 4th annual official Bite of Las Vegas Kick Off Party. Tents will be set up in the front parking lot of the restaurant’s Sahara location, serving $1 draft beer to get the party started. Other food and drink specials during the party include the Mashed Potato and Bacon Stuffed Burger for $5 and the popular Kiwi Watermelon Lemonade, which was voted Bite’s ”Best Drink” for $4, all of which will be available at Bite of Las Vegas.
