Las Vegas residents are invited to mosey up for a good time at the annual Ward 6 Cowboy Christmas and Classic Car Show from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 4, at Floyd Lamb Park at Tule Springs, located at 9200 Tule Springs Road. This free family event, which is sponsored by Ward 6 Councilman Steven D. Ross, will include holiday activities such as photos with Santa, hay rides, a petting zoo, jump house, face painting, farmers market, craft and food vendors, and more. There also will be performances by the Centennial, Shadow Ridge, Arbor View, Saville, Escobedo, Lied and Scherkenbach school choirs.

This year’s event also will include a canned food and Toys for Tots toy drive. Residents are asked to bring a canned food donation to benefit needy seniors in the community. The U.S Marine Corps Reserve will be accepting new, unwrapped toys to benefit low-income families during the annual Toys for Tots toy drive.

“This annual tradition for the community is something I look forward to all year long,” said Councilman Ross, who represents the area. “It is especially exciting with the addition of a classic car show that I know will make for a great tradition. I also encourage everyone to lend a hand and to help those in need by donating canned food and a new, unwrapped toy.”

There should be plenty of free parking and picnic areas for attendees. Alcoholic beverages will not be permitted.

WHAT: The Lon Bronson All-Star Band, a 15-piece band, comprised of Las Vegas’ finest musicians, will celebrate its 20th anniversary on November 11 with an evening filled with rock, soul, funk and industrial-strength R&B. Lon Bronson was nominated for an Emmy for musical direction for “Earth to America” in 2006 the band has been seen on NBC, HBO and TBS. Band leader Bronson is available for interviews.

Cabo Wabo Cantina will kick off Pro Football Thursdays with host Sammy Hagar Thursday, November 11. Mushroom lovers rejoice! This November, it’s time to celebrate one of the most popular vegetables in the U.S., the mushroom. Noted for its nutritional value and variety of tastes and textures, the mushroom is in-season all year round and Alizé at the Top of the Palms is offering a special, three-course menu showcasing the magnificence of the mushroom. Featuring tasty dishes that incorporate mushrooms from delicate to savory, the Mushroom Menu is priced at $65 per person. To please the palette even more, $5 of every Mushroom Menu purchased will be donated to Three Square, a local food bank that serves as the food solution for the hungry in Southern Nevada.
