Former NBA great Michael Brown will sign autographs at the Hoop Hall Experience (HHX), the official Basketball Hall of Fame’s touring exhibit, at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas at 3 – 4 p.m. Saturday, May 30.

Towering at six feet nine inches, Brown, a former power forward and center, owned the court at George Washington University in the early 1980s, earning the nickname “The New Washington Monument.” After four years of college ball, he was selected by the Chicago Bulls in the third round of the 1985 NBA Draft. Brown played 11 seasons (1986-1997) in the NBA as a member of the Bulls, the Utah Jazz, the Minnesota Timberwolves, the Philadelphia 76ers and the Phoenix Suns before retiring with career totals of 3,130 points and 2,762 rebounds. Brown also served as an assistant coach for the Chicago Bulls for a short time primarily to work with the Bulls’ young centers and forwards.

Now, Brown has hung up his sneakers and whistle to focus on his charity, The Embracing Project, a nonprofit organization dedicated to the development of youth. The organization focuses on preventing youth violence through outreach educational programs, drug and health awareness and group activities.

Located on the mezzanine level, the HHX is where the story of basketball comes to life in more than 17,000 square feet of fun. From the heart-pounding surround sound “Big Shots” theater to state-of-the-art interactive displays, the attraction has something for basketball lovers of all ages. WHO:

The International Chili Society (ICS) and chefs from across the country.

WHAT:

The Village at Las Vegas hosts dozens of chili makers from across the country in the 2009 Silver State Regional Chili Cook-Off, sanctioned by the International Chili Society. Cooks will produce their best Red Chili, Chili Verde and salsa to be judged.

A People’s Choice Award will allow the public to vote for their favorite and this unsanctioned category has no rules so cooks are encouraged to use their creativity.

In addition to the chili samplings, guests can partake in a raffle for great prizes, giveaways and a bounce house for the kids. A DJ will keep the energy going throughout the day. Sonrisa Grill will offer a 10 percent discount to all cooks and volunteers on the day of the event. Guests can stay into the evening and enjoy “Jazz on the Lake” a free lakeside concert featuring local jazz musician Sid the Kid.

Cast members and musicians from the hit musical JERSEY BOYS at The Palazzo Hotel and Casino present a new cabaret concept to the entertainment scene in Las Vegas at the Liberace Museum Wednesday, May 27. A combination of rock show and cabaret, the appropriately named VS. – A Rock Cabaret, will showcase incredible talent from The Strip in an intimate setting, with all proceeds benefitting the Liberace Foundation for the Performing and Creative Arts.
 
 
Performers for the inaugural show include Erich Bergen and Kristofer McNeeley from JERSEY BOYS, Bobby Black from the Las Vegas Tenors and Melanie Taylor from Ultimate Manilow: The Hits. A new VS. show will occur each month and will showcase a different theme and cast.
