Here’s the information for the next 3 First Friday celebrations in Las Vegas.

February 6 First Friday be sure to bundle up as it may be chilly this month. Perfomance by Sholin Kung Fu Chan featuring Master Xing Wei from the Shaolin Temple and his students on the Land Rover stage. MORE live tiki carving at Casino Center and California by Charles Christians and Matthew Dittember . We will be hosting more than 70 artists on the street (including the Outdoor Exhibition Spaces) and in the gallery spaces within the outdoor festival area on Casino Center Blvd. and Colorado Ave. New exhibits opening elsewhere include Cameron Grant at the Box Office and Glen Fry showing at Trifecta Gallery in the Arts Factory. We have a minimal $2 entry fee at the gates to the outdoor festival (children twelve and under free when accompanied by an adult). All of the entry fees go to support the First Friday arts event with more artists and live performance. 

El Cortez/First Friday Express Trolley
 

The El Cortez Hotel & Casino joined with First Friday and is sponsoring an Express Trolley. The trolley will take patrons from the El Cortez, 600 East Fremont Street at the Cortez Garden Gateway (with 1,200 free parking spaces in the garage and also valet) to the Main Street and Colorado Trolley Stop at First Friday (and back again). The bus will run from 6:00 p.m.(starting at the El Cortez) until 10:00 p.m. with the last First Friday stop at approximately 9:30 p.m. Take advantage of the convenient parking and avoid traffic after the event. You can also enjoy the Entertainment District’s First Friday after parties when you arrive back at the El Cortez.

The outdoor festival can be entered just south of Charleston on Casino Center Blvd.; just east of Main on California and just east of Main on Colorado Blvd. The Friends of First Friday Information Table in the outdoor festival is in front of The Funk House on the corner of Colorado and Casino Center.

Taylor, Phil Perrin, Adam Michaels and Tom Kubik. Provided free-of-charge by Whirlygig Inc. to selected artists, the Outdoor Exhibition Spaces give creators of a variety of disciplines the opportunity to showcase their latest works in the heart of the popular First Friday festival grounds. Clark County provides FREE parking at the Clark County Government Center and in February there will be  FREE Trolleys which make stops throughout the festival from 6 to10 pm

 

New art openings:

 The Box Office, 1129 Casino Center, just up the block from the Funk House:Cameron Grant’s incredible ‘HIGH POINTS PROJECT’ morphing a love of our public lands with large format fine art photography. Join us as we display images of Las Vegas and the surrounding desert that you will see nowhere else. The works are mostly large format and will dominate any space they are put into. The exhibit is running for a limited time, if you haven’t seen it yet in person you owe it to yourself to check it out. The High Points – You’ve NEVER seen Las Vegas like this!
 
Suzanne Marie LeClair is City of the World’s featured artist for February.  She is mainly a self taught artist from Cape Cod, Massachusetts, and loves to paint on canvas in oil, acrylic, watercolor and mixed media, Suzanne paints daily using her own life experiences in many different ways and referring to it as “therapy”.  She brings many different surprises to each First Friday exhibit.  Come view her work on February 6 – First Friday!
 
Clark County celebrates its centennial in 2009 with First Friday Historic Roundtable Discussions at 6 PM at the County Government Center
Commission Chambers. February 6 the topic is local African-American history, with historians and black civic leaders leading a lively

Henri & Odette is pleased to present WITHIN/WITHOUT , an exhibition by Thomas Willis. Pop Culture Gallery: February 6; Celebrate “Days of Sin and Nights of Nymphomania…. Looking for Love in
All the Wrong Places” at the hot pink building on the corner of Colorado and Third Street. The gallery will feature movie posters and memorabilia from naughty movies of yesterday and today, including Deep Throat and Debbie Does Dallas. Also showing the artwork of sensuous realist John Hul, well-known tattoo artists Shawn Barber and Norm, pop icon painters Jota Leal and  Ocean Clark, the photography of Ski Bassham, and the funky jewelry designs of Jen Gannon: 1302 South Third Street, 702-388-2015.

This February, Twin Creeks at Silverton Casino Lodge sizzles with Lover’s Passion ($10), an original Valentine’s Day concoction from Master Mixologist John DuPont. Boasting a flirty and seductive red hue,  Lover’s Passion contains a tantalizing combination of fresh passion fruit, cranberry juice and Taittinger Domaine Carneros champagne. Served in a champagne flute and garnished with a lemon twist, the sinfully delicious cocktail is sure to drive taste buds wild.

Classic Menu

Twin Creeks inside Silverton Casino Lodge now features a selection of classic dinner items in addition to the current menu. Seafood selections include cold water lobster tail ($29), twin cold water lobster tails ($48), salmon parpadelle ($19) and Twin Creeks’ fresh catch of the day ($22). Diners can also enjoy salt and pepper crusted prime rib in three cuts such as kings double ($26), queens ($19) and petite ($17).
